Wow. We are in the home stretch, ladies and gentlemen. I can hardly believe it. Soon, there will be a new little Brackmann. Ready or not!!
How far along: 38 weeks and 2 days
Baby Size: A pumpkin (18.9 to 20.9 inches and 6.2-9.2lbs) or swiss chard (what??) (19 – 22 inches, 6.5 lbs) [the first stat is from TheBump.com, the second is from WhatToExpect.com]
Weight gain: Still hovering around 30lbs or so. Doctor said it looks good to him! I’ll take it 🙂
Workouts: Slowing down for sure. I went twice last week and got in two great workouts, but haven’t made it back yet (though I’m planning on going tomorrow and Friday). I’m just really low on energy and, honestly, time. We’ve had a lot going on!
Maternity clothes: Yes.
Stretch marks: A couple.
Sleep: It’s been MUCH better the past couple weeks! Brooke is sleeping again (the pediciatrician told us at her 18 month appointment that we needed to let her cry for a bit – 5 minutes, she said – and every time Brooke has fussed, it’s been for less than 5 minutes and she’s gotten herself back down. Woohoo!! So that means mama sleeps better too. At least for the next week or 2. Then someone is going to be throwing a wrench in that plan.
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Movement: He is still a mover and a shaker…just running out of room to really sock it to me when he wants to. He is mostly rolling and shifting around, and still gets hiccups all the time.
Food cravings: Peanut butter, sweets, donuts, you know, all the crap. I’m almost looking forward to not being pregnant anymore so I stop wanting this bad stuff.
Aversions: Nothing that I can tell.
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks and some for real contractions, just nothing that is consistent. We had the 38 week appointment last Friday and I was 1cm dilated and 80% effaced. I went again yesterday to check on some other stuff (long story short, I thought I might have been leaking amniotic fluid but it turns out my bladder has just been failing me…awesome) and they did another cervical check and I was almost at 3cm dilated, so there’s something happening! I’m also breaking out like a teenager right now, which is weird, and probably a sign of impending labor. But at this point, I think anything is a sign of labor, since, you know, it really could be any day.
What I miss: Being comfortable. I just can’t get comfortable. It doesn’t help that its winter and winter requires layers and my coats don’t fit and all I really want to wear are yoga pants and tank tops.
Symptoms: What I mentioned above…nothing exciting.
Nursery: Well, I think we have done pretty much everything we want for now. There is still some straightening up and what not, but he won’t use the nursery for several weeks anyway…
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Mood: Good, just getting impatient 🙂
Best moment this week: Dinner with my lovely girlfriends that I love so much – they are all so amazing.
Looking forward to: I don’t know if this is a ‘looking forward to’ thing, but Friday is my last day working. I’ve been at Moseley Architects for 3 years and, though there have been some trying moments, I can honestly say, without a doubt, that it has been my most fulfilling job to date (minus being a mom, but you know what I mean). I was so lucky to work with a group of women who all got along, cared about each other, supported each other, and helped when help was needed. My supervisor and bosses were all amazing (in their own ways) and I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with all of them. No job is ever perfect, but this one came pretty close, and I will miss working at Moseley Architects so much. On to bigger things, right? I did warn my supervisor that I might come crawling back on my hands and knees begging for my job back (or any job) hah! 🙂 Lets hope it doesn’t come to that, but I know I’ve got a good place to call on if it does.
