I’m sorry – 16 months? How did this happen so fast?? It feels like just yesterday she was an itty bitty thing that stayed where we put her, was sass-less, and had much less hair 🙂
Still smiley as ever!
Since it’s been pretty much forever since I’ve done an update on Brooke, I wanted to give you a little insight to her world and what she’s got going on. Jess at Blonde Ponytail did an update on her sweet Jada so I’m following her format, since it seems to hit on all the highlights.
As of Brooke’s 15 month appointment, she is 20.75 pounds and somewhere around 30″ tall – right in the 25th-50th percentile for her age. She’s still fitting in some 12 month stuff (mainly pants, shirts are beginning to be a little ‘midriffy’, and 18 month stuff (although some of that is big on her…crazy sizing).
We’re big fans of “Football Friday” at daycare 🙂
Brooke is a bundle of energy unless she’s sleeping. She is just like her daddy here – she just doesn’t want to sit down for longer than a couple minutes (usually to sit in one of our laps and read a book).
Outside: She loves being outside, playing in the dirt (and, you know, eating it).
Bubbles: She LOVES bubbles (and loves to say the word bubbles, which is adorable)
Her pink car – or any of her toys on wheels, for that matter.
Slides and her swing – Again with an outside activity, but the girl loves it!
Shape sorters and puzzles – If it has shapes and holes to put them in, she loves it! We play with her shape sorters and puzzles several times a day. Robert says they’ll make her analytical. Whatever. As long as she’s having fun 🙂
Bath time. She LOVES bath time. She’ll go upstairs saying “bah…bah!” and run into her bathroom and “eh eh eh” us until we agree to give her a bath. Come to think of it, there really isn’t much she doesn’t like.
She’s getting to be a little more picky these days…but it’s not too terrible just yet. She really loves cereal in the morning. She usually eats with Robert, and he always has a bowl of cereal, so she has to have her own bowl (milk and cheerios or kix) as well. She’s actually really good with the spoon. Bananas and apples are big hits these days, too. Lunches are usually a peanut butter sandwich, grilled cheese, apple sauce, yogurt, or whatever we can find that she’s in the mood for. Dinner has been a lot of “Mac Pea Dog” – a meal that Robert used to eat when he was little, but it incorporates all of B’s favorites, pasta, peas, and hot dogs. She’s still not big on chicken, so we play around with dinner time as much as we can. It’s a little tough switching it up or being creative since I usually get her around 5:30 and she’s hungry as soon as we get home, so whatever is fast, works!
Goofy little girl!
Sleep is actually going pretty good right now. She knows when she is sleepy and will tell us “night night” to let us know it’s time, which is usually around 7 or 7:15. We read her book, give her some milk from a sippy cup (no more bottles!), and lay her down in her crib. She’s usually out within 5 to 10 minutes, and lately has been sleeping until 6:30am (although there have been some 5:30 wake up calls). Overall, she’s a great sleeper.
I’d say she’s comfy!
I know this will change as she gets older, but 16 months is totally my favorite so far! (and that means it’ll be my favorite at 17, 18, and 19 months, I’m sure…at least until she starts talking back ;)) She is so fun, sweet, loving, and just the best ever. She gives kisses and hugs, she tries to say whatever we ask her to say (which is pretty much everything), she says “I luh you” (in Brooke jabber), blows kisses, says night night and bye bye even when no one is going anywhere. She’s just a total sweetheart.
She even works out with her mama, which, you know, I love 😉
Oh this girl… <3
