We took a trip to Evansville to visit Robert’s family over Memorial Day Weekend. It was such a blast to see everyone and Brooke got to see people she hasn’t seen in a long time, and boy, if she wasn’t spoiled before we went, she definitely is now!
She was a champ on the flights! And of course everyone who sat around us just loved her and played peek-a-boo with her, it was wonderful.
She was very into looking out of the window – in this picture, she has her face pressed up against the window, watching the clouds go by 🙂
There were so many events that went on that I’ll do my best to recount everything, but I know I’ll miss something!
We arrived around 1:30 or so on Saturday, and spent quality family time, hanging out and letting everyone get Brooke snuggles. We ordered in Turoni’s pizza and had some family over (Roberts dad and step-mom, Catherine, Grandma Jean and Ralph, and Aunt Chris and Uncle Barry). Saturday’s a bit of a blur, and I think we all went to bed pretty early, and it doesn’t seem like I got any pictures 🙁
Sunday morning we went to church, and afterwards had a yummy lunch at Gerst Haus (german food, if you couldn’t tell). Brooke really enjoyed the Kraut-balls and ate a really good, hearty lunch of those, some of my Jaegersnitzel, some Spaetzle, green beans, and a bunch of other yummy stuff! We were all impressed with how well she ate there.
Sunday afternoon, Brooke’s grandpa and grandma Catherine hosted a 1st birthday party for Brooke!
So many people came to see Brooke (and us….kind of ;)) including her cousin Will! Dan and Christie made the impromptu trip down to Evansville from Indianapolis, and it was so great to see them and Brooke had such a great time playing with Will (they are just about 2.5 or 3 months apart)
I could die from the cuteness!
Brooke spent some quality time with her great-grandpa Dennis and great-grandma Sharon.
She played on the chair her Aunt Marie got her (girl loves climbing on things…) And of course, she adored playing with her Aunt Heidi!! We missed Uncle James but we will see him soon!
AND THE CAKE!
She. loved. the. cake. LOVED. I really hoped she’d dig in and go to town, and I got what I wanted 😉
<3 a girl after my heart, that’s for sure.
SUCH a ham, this one.
Daddy and her great-grandma Jean monitoring the cake-eating and clean-up situation.
And there was some cleaning up to do – I just took her straight upstairs into the bathtub 🙂 Poor choice on my part wearing a white shirt!
The rest of Brooke’s party was great – she got to open some presents and eat the awesome pork and grandpa made her, plus all of the other yummy sides everyone made (although I think between Brooke and Will, the fruit Aunt Chris made was the hit of the party) and she went to bed pretty soon after eating – all the cake and playing around really wore her out!
Monday morning we spent playing in grandpa and grandma Catherine’s new library – up the stair, down the stair, open the doors, shut the doors, bang on the windows, smash face on windows 🙂
We rounded out the weekend with some rest and relaxation on Tuesday morning before our flight headed out.
I wish I had taken more pictures, but it was so awesome seeing everyone and visiting with everyone. We’re so blessed to have such incredible family who loves us all so much. We will see you all again soon!
Lastly – THANK YOU to all who have risked their lives, and given their lives, so that I am able to live this blessed life. THANK YOU.
