An update: We had our 35 week appointment this morning and it didn’t quite go as planned. When they checked my blood pressure, it was super high – 140 over 92. Every appointment I’ve had up until today, it’s been somewhere around 115 over 75 (give or take a few points). They got Lady B’s heart rate and it was at 170 which is pretty high for her (she’s usually around 130). They didn’t find any protein in my urine sample from this morning, so that is a good sign, but I also gained 7lbs in 3 weeks (not terrible but not good either). So my BP, her heart rate, and the weight gain are all signs that something might not be right. They rechecked my BP about 20 minutes later, and it was 130 over 90. Lower, but still not where it needs to be.
The doctor put me on bed rest until at least Friday, I have do to a 24-hour urine test (basically starting tomorrow morning, collect all of my pee in this jug for 24 hours) then go back to the doctor on Friday morning. They took blood to run some tests, which I should know the results of tomorrow.
He basically said that if on Friday everything has improved, BP is down, Lady B’s heart rate is lower, and my urine looks normal, then I’ll be good to go. If nothing has changed or improved enough, then I’ll stay on bed rest. If it gets worse (same BP or higher, protein in my urine), there’s a good chance they’ll induce. So any spare thoughts and prayers that all goes as it is supposed to would be greatly appreciated!! I’m taking it easy, working from home, snuggling with Stout, and being a lump. I’m pretty disheartened at the moment, even though there isn’t really anything I could have done or shouldn’t have done to prevent bed rest, so now I just pray that Lady B is safe and sound and as long as she enters this world healthy, I’m a happy mama.
On a lighter note, he did the first cervical check (which wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be) and Lady B is head down and my cervix is closed up tight (both very good things)! No dilation or effacement!
Lady B’s Size: She’s the size of a coconut – so she’s probably 5.5 pounds and 18 inches long or so.
Lady B’s developments:Lady B’s kidneys are fully developed and her liver can process some waste. Her hearing is also developed. She’s pretty much fully developed at this point and will spend much of the (hopefully) next few weeks packing on some weight.
Currently Craving: Watermelon is the main one. And mint chocolate chip ice cream.
How’s the belly looking: Last week, 34 weeks:
And this week – 35 weeks, in PJs:
Sleep & Dreams: My hips aren’t bothering me quite as much as they were a few weeks ago but I’ll feel a few pressure pangs every once in a while. Other than that, sleep hasn’t been to bad the past few days, just the whole peeing all the time thing, which I now can pretty much make it to the bathroom with my eyes closed anymore so I just try to sleep walk my way around that 🙂
How I am feeling: At this very moment, I’m frustrated with my situation, but I know better safe than sorry, and the more I stress about it, the less likely things will be good on Friday, so just trying to focus on relaxing.
Otherwise, I’ve had some intense Braxton Hicks, especially during/after walks, and have had some crazy hot flashes (no one told me about those!). I have had a couple cramp-like contractions, but nothing regular.
Movement: She’s going to have her daddy’s energy, I just know it. She’s almost non-stop in there. Her feet are located in my ribs, her heads down and she uses my bladder as a pillow and/or punching bag depending on the time of day. Also funny, I had earbuds in at work and was listening to Nickel Creek – I put one earbud in my ear and the other I put on my belly, and she seemed to love it! She started dancing all around in there (at least I’m assuming she loved it) and it was really cute – I texted my dad to let him know she’s definitely got some Crawford genes 🙂
Exercise: Up until today’s bed rest crap, I had been doing really good with walks – like 4-5 times per week and 2 miles at a time…no walks until Friday, hopefully!
Stretch marks: Nope!
Rings on or off: On.
Maternity wear: Yep – although for now it’s PJs…
Baby related purchases: I went to Old Navy with Lisa last night and might have gotten a few things, like an adorable jean romper, some striped leggings with ruffles on the butt, and Lisa bought matching dresses for Lady B and her daughter, Rowan, who was born in November 🙂 They’ll be the cutest girls ever!
Days until due date: 35!
Fun stuff: This weekend is *supposed* to be my baby shower in Roanoke, so everyone keep your fingers crossed that everything comes back normal on Friday so I can see my wonderful family and Roanoke friends this weekend, and obviously so that all is well with little miss Lady B 🙂 And those of you planning to attend the Roanoke shower, just stay tuned, I promise I’ll come back with an update when I know!
