Lady B’s Size: A durion…what is that, you ask?? well – it’s a huge fruit native to southeastern Asia `smelling like Hell and tasting like Heaven’; seeds are roasted and eaten like nuts…of course it is. My baby is a putrid smelling fruit. Awesomesauce. She’s somewhere around 4.5 pounds and 17-18 inches long. She won’t grow in length much more than what she is now (maybe a couple more inches) but will mainly be fattening up!
Lady B’s developments:Lady B keeps her eyes open while awake, is starting to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing, her bones are hardening, and she is going through (more) major brain development.
Currently Craving: Watermelon. And spicy food. And crunchy chocolate (like, chocolate milk won’t do…but something covered and chocolate and kept in the freezer? yes please!)
How’s the belly looking: Last week, 32 weeks:
This week – 33 weeks:
and just for fun 🙂
that’s a lot of change!!
Sleep & Dreams: In the past 4 or 5 days, I’m seeing why they tell you to enjoy it while you can. I’m sleeping terribly. If it’s not waking up to pee, or because someone keeps coughing and I have to tell him at 1am to please get up and take some freaking cough medicine or I’m going to kill him, it’s my hips. HOLY HIP PAIN. I can’t even. I built a pillow fortress last night so I could try to sleep on my back without being totally uncomfortable, since sleeping on my sides is completely out of the question anymore (unless I want to wake up in agony every 30 minutes to roll over). Robert asked me this morning (after the coughing attack…) if I’d like more pillows. I’m thinking I’ll take up the whole bed tonight with them so I can try to get comfy. Someone can cough his little butt on down to the sofa. Just saying. 🙂
So if anyone has ideas on how to relieve the hip pain, I will be forever in your debt, I’m so tired and sore and maybe just slightly cranky…I asked my doctor last week what I could do and he said something to the effect of “have the baby” – but not yet. Yeah. Thanks doc.
How I am feeling: Well allergy season blows. My throat has been irritated for the past several days and I’m stuffy and tired and Tylenol only does so much. I left work a little early yesterday, got home, curled up on the couch, and napped with the puppy until my hips woke me up screaming (it’s awesome, really…)
Other than that, I’m doing good – I think I’m slowing down a little bit, and I suppose with 7 weeks to go, that’s to be expected, but I guess I can’t complain too much. Getting some braxton hicks every once in a while, but nothing out of the ordinary! Oh, and I ordered some ankle compression socks from ProCompression.com and they’ve really helped my feet at the end of the day to not be so swelly! I put them on after work (since bright purple socks with my tan sandals might not look so great) and sleep with them on – seems to be working like a charm! The past two mornings I’ve seen my ankle bones, which is awesome! (it’s the little things, guys…)
Evidence of Pregnancy Brain: No fun stories regarding my forgetfulness this week, but I’m sure something will happen soon 🙂
Movement: Lady B is still a little wiggle worm, though it seems she is running out of room and sharp kicks and jabs are now rolls, pushes, and these little spasmy things that I think might be hiccups (cute!) She still seems to shy up a bit when someone tries to feel her (my wonderful friend Nikki has never felt a baby kick before so I tried desperately for a long time to see if I couldn’t get her to feel Lady B…and no dice 🙁
Exercise: I haven’t gone out much this week for exercise but plan on walking after work. The weather has been beautiful here so there aren’t any excuses for not going, you know, other than allergies.
Stretch marks: None so far.
Rings on or off: On.
Maternity wear: So I realized this morning when talking to some co-workers that most of the purchases clothes-wise I’ve made (aside from maternity pants) have been non-maternity stuff (lots of empire-waist dresses…wearing one today that you can see above, as a matter of fact…long tanks…cardigans in lots of colors..) so I guess I’m trying to make it so I have stuff I can wear after she gets here. Pretty smart if you ask me – though it seems to be much easier to do when carrying mainly in the spring/summer – it feels like it’d be harder to pull that off in the winter.
Baby related purchases: I made a purchase on Amazon yesterday with all of the fun stuff I will need after she gets here – you know, like nursing bras, nursing pads, and all the other super exciting things they tell you that you need…so that will all get here tomorrow so I can start putting things in the hospital bag. SO CRAZY! So nothing for her yet, but stuff for me. We made a list of what we’ll need to go buy for her before she gets here (if we don’t receive it before) so we are prepared to do that after the shower in Roanoke.
Days until due date: 49! Fun things: My Richmond shower was this past Sunday and it was absolutely amazing! So many of my wonderful and beautiful friends were there to shower me and Lady B with so much love and great gifts (and lots of adorable clothes!) I will be taking pictures of stuff soon, and my wonderful and talented friend Christina, with Christina Stevens Photography, so sweetly brought her camera to capture some of the days special moments for me and I should have those in the next couple of weeks. Here is one that I’ll leave you with (from Facebook) – so much love 🙂
Lady B and I are so spoiled and bless to have all of the amazing women in our lives!! Thank you all so much for coming and making it such an amazing day 🙂
