My Symptoms: Nothing out of the ordinary…some round ligament pain but it’s definitely gotten better, and a few headaches here and there, but I can swing it! Oh, and there’s a reason you can’t see most of my face in my pictures below, and that is because our little bundle of joy is also the bearer of raging hormones that make me break out like my high school boyfriend. Yuck-Y. I got some MAC concealer but at this point I need an airbrush and perhaps one of those masquerade ball masks. That should do it.
How in the world we were a grapefruit last week and this week we’re a cantaloupe is beyond me. In my mind, those things are significantly different in size. Unless they mean the cantaloupe we grew in our garden this past year, in which case baby is back to the size of a tomato (was that one of them???)…anyway…cantaloupe it is!
Oh – there are also 2 big milestones today! 1 – today is the 6 month mark (holy crap!) and 2 – they apparently call today V-day for me (even though V-day for everyone is tomorrow) but it stands for ‘Viability Day’ – meaning, if heaving forbid Lady B decided she was done being on the inside, her chances of survival are 50%. That doesn’t mean we’re ready for you little one, you just stay put in there for at least 10-16 more weeks, mmk? I promise I’ll stop poking at you soon.
From BabyCenter: Your baby’s growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she’ll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
Weight/Belly: Lets just roll with another comparison, shall we? Here was last week at 23 weeks and 3 days…
large and in charge!
And here is this week at 24 weeks
bow chicka-bow wow
No it isn’t the same shirt, but apparently I am really diggin’ this color. Could that be a craving??
Movement: It’s like a party in there! Its so weird to look at my stomach and see it moving all over the place…She seems to be napping at the moment, but when she wakes up she makes sure I know! She also doesn’t seem to like having her space intruded on (although I guess if I had that tiny amount of space, I’d get pissy if someone tried to take some of it up too…) – if I rest my arms on my belly or lean forward and scrunch down, she starts getting jabby. So of course I do both of those things often just to get a rise out of her (and to know she’s okay in there, duh)
Sleep: Ohh so nice to be back home and in the humidity again. My hair doesn’t look quite as good but my head isn’t like a desert anymore, which is super nice. (note: I’ve emailed back and forth with Robert several times about dessert and every time I spell it desert, and he keeps calling me out on it. Those roles are usually reversed, so now I’m really aware of the differences between desert and dessert, and trust me, there are many!)
Cravings: It’s a good thing I love strawberries, chocolate, and chocolate covered strawberries, because I now have a stash at home and a stash at work! Read the post before this one if you haven’t already, it’s pretty sweet (pun. intended.)
Work Outs: We took Stout on a walk on Sunday when we got back, and I went to Body Pump today which was good. Gotta keep it up!!
Best part of the week: Coming home! It was nice to get away for the week but I mainly just worked (good thing is that I don’t have to take any vacation time, so that is awesome) but I was so glad to get home. So glad. Also, the chocolate covered strawberries have been amazzzzing AND I went to see Silver Linings Playbook last night with Melissa and her running friend Traci and it was so nice to have some girl time – and the movie was great! (and Bradley Cooper is easy on the eyes…although there’s something about his teeth…)
Goals for next week: yea yea yea…nursery post…vacation pictures post…it’s all coming…just hold your horses 🙂
