No, no – we didn’t get a new refrigerator. I just ‘gussied up’ what was/is in there. I signed up for Weight Watchers online yesterday and am determined to shed this unwanted poundage. I followed the plan really well yesterday, actually eating 5 less points than I’m allotted (which I don’t think you’re supposed to do, but go big or go home, right?? and I’m more on target today…) and decided we need more healthier foods around here. Not that we eat horribly, but we can get stuck in ruts and snack food isn’t something we keep around, which will help me on this WW plan. So, I made a grocery list and went ‘Krogering’
This is what a little over $80 can get you. Now, how come they don’t make coupons for fresh food, hm? (Lisa – any ideas or tips you have on this would be great 🙂 Lisa is the go-to organizational/saving money Q-U-E-E-N – she’s wonderful all around)
So, from top left – Beer (I’m dieting, not dying…), Tea (2 kinds, peppermint and chai), Nature’s Own Lite 9 grain bread, Weight Watchers Ice Cream treats (even if you aren’t dieting, these guys are magnificent), Cantloupe, Lite English Muffins, Eggs, Pears, Baby Carrots, Fat Free Half and Half, Greek Yogurt (4 different flavors), Fresca, canned veggies (just Beets and Corn), Acorn Squash, Garlic, Corn, Almonds (Sea Salt & Vinegar and Honey Chipotle flavors), Zucchini, Cottage Cheese, Mangoes, Laughing Cow Garlic and Herb Cheese, Strawberries and Pastrami
And here was the fridge set up before…no rhyme or reason, just kept cold…
And now – all the beer and sodas on the top right – then left overs underneath. I dont normally eat leftovers and obviously am trying to stay away from the beer and sodas, so my goal was to only have to open one side to see the ‘good’ stuff.
So the good dairy – cottage cheese and yogurt – are on top, then fruit and some veggies front and center, with eggs and wraps below. Other fruits and veggies are in the leftside drawer, again leaving me with just the one door to open to find healthy stuff. To top it off –
I made myself a little list that I can look at before I even open the fridge to remind myself of what is in there and get an idea of what I want, instead of opening and staring (like most women do in their closets…) thus avoiding the “we have no food” dilemma, when clearly, we have food! I’ll just scratch through things once they are eaten and gone, and another plus, it’ll leave me with a starter grocery list for next time, and I won’t forget what all I got this time.
I’m pleased with my set-up and hopefully, like the pantry, it stays this way 🙂 Let the weight loss BEGIN.
