It’s day 2 in Utah. I forgot to blog yesterday. Is skiing all day a good excuse? I think vacation is a good excuse so I’ll go with it 🙂
Today I took a lesson for intermediate level skiers. I quickly learned that I wasn’t very intermediate, but luckily my instructor, Metree – from Australia, had seen my ‘technique’ before and knew what to tell me to do to try to fix it. Mainly, I was trying to turn with my hips and have my skis follow, which is incorrect, and supposed to be the other way around. He taught men how to lean on my skis so that I’ve got my weight where it needs to be to not only keep my speed and stay confident, and not feel like I’m going to fall every time I pick up speed.
I’ve taken some pictures out here but since we didn’t bring the laptop I don’t have any way to upload them. It has snowed about 10 inches or so since we got here and they are calling for more tomorrow – fresh powder is great! the wind kicked up tight so there are some pretty crazy snow drifts out there. We are excited to ski tomorrow and take Wednesday off to maybe hit up the Olympic Park and try our hand at some speed skating.
So today, I am grateful for Metree, for hopefully making the next few days of skiing not so scary 🙂
