After finding out last Tuesday that I was being let go for the job, I had a short 4 days to prepare to be without a job. This included a half day on Friday and a half day today, my last day. In the beginning, my boss told me I had a couple of weeks to wrap things up. Thing was, there wasn’t anything to wrap up, since I hadn’t had any work to do while I was there, which made the ‘wrap up’ stage go by pretty quickly. After figuring that out, she decided to cut ties sooner than later. Which is fine with me, since I politely pointed out to my contracting agency that there wasn’t anything in my Employee Handbook that stated what the Paid Time Off policy was, nor anything that stated that I couldn’t receive a pay out for the time I hadn’t used. Luckily, they agreed that it wasn’t in the handbook (but assured me that there would be a new edition coming out with that clause) and agreed to pay out my remaining 5 days of vacation, which is awesome.
Sparkly all around 🙂
I got a really sweet email from the guy who is taking on my ‘work’ at the old job. He said “I’ll be sure to tell -our boss- what a great asset you are and it’s a shame they didn’t realize your potential and keep you around to do other jobs…you’ve really helped me a lot in the past several days and I sincerely appreciate it.” I thought that was very kind of him. He’s really nice and I’m sure he’ll go a great job there. Plus, he agreed that his wife needs some new jewelry 🙂
So now I’m off to do wife-like things, like cook and maybe do laundry. Aw who am I kiddin’ – I don’t have anything to do tomorrow, so I’ll save laundry for later 😉
Thank you everyone for your thoughts, comments and suggestions from the last article, I appreciate it 🙂
