It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Things have been busy and free time is hard to come by, but I did want to pop in and give an update on what we’ve done with the house in the past few months!
I already mentioned in one of the last posts the updating of the hallway decor which I think we might extend all the way upstairs. To add to that, we picked out a rusty red color for the downstairs bathroom, and Robert had that all painted for me in one weekend!
Here is the before:
We both really love the color AND how well it goes with the animal prints in there!
Hopefully soon we’ll take the paint rollers upstairs!
Next, the outside! Earlier in the year, I posted about our raised garden beds that we built. The gardens are doing okay, we’re definitly taking note of what does well in there and what doesnt (and the exterme heat this year obviously didn’t help anything to grow!) and that black weed tarp under cantaloupes may sound like a good idea, but it’s not. But with our garden, we’ve also found some interesting friends, like this guy who was succeeding at destroying one of our tomato plants:
Pretty gross!! She was probably 3 to 4 inches long and we think those were eggs on her back – ick!!!
Another fun project Robert took on one night after work was building an outdoor fire pit. He had been mentioning that he wanted to build one for a while, so we finally went out and got the supplies we needed – 36 pavers and play sand. A few hours later:
We have our fire pit!!
And a few days after that:
My wonderful engineer husband hooked up the TV outside and we set up shop on Sunday night to watch some NFL games by the fire – and of course we had smores! 🙂
Stay tuned for more updates soon 🙂
