In my quest to become a famous food critic (heh) I’ve decided the best way to the top…is to start at home. Or at my friends homes! Although it wasn’t my idea, between four girls, we made one of the best darn homemade pizzas I’ve ever had. Watch out Papa Johns…
Although I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of the ingredients, the list is pretty simple.
Pizza dough (the kind that comes in the roll that pops open…we were all timid to open it…that’s some scary stuff!)
Pizza sauce (could be made yourself with canned tomatoes, tomato paste and seasonings – or use the jarred kind 🙂 )
LOTS of veggies! We used tomatoes, green peppers, onions, olives and artichoke hearts
Mild Italian Sausage (unlike pepperoni, you do have to cook this before using it as a pizza topping)
Mozzarella cheese – and lots of it
We pre-baked the dough for 5 minutes or so, then piled on the toppings
First, we added all the sause, then a layer of cheese, followed by all the chopped veggies, and lastly the sausage.
Then we added more cheese 🙂
Then we baked it for about 15 minutes at 400 degrees (or whatever temperature the dough says) and we were left with this yummy pizza!
It’s making me hungry for pizza and it’s only 8:45am. But it was DELICIOUS!
The lovely chefs 🙂 (From left: Christina, Meghan, yours truly, and Merideth – our host)
I wonder what our next culinary experiment will be…??
