Saturday morning began a weekend of updating our master closet! Why upgrade a brand new closet, you ask? Well – for one, the shelves and bars were eye-height on the wall, which is typical, but it left a lot of unused space on the shelves, even after we stacked sweatshirts and other things up there…
Not to mention it left a bunch of room for kitties to hide out – leaving little fine black hairs on many of our sweaters…
And aside from some shoe shelves, there wasn’t much we could do with the space below our clothes…
Since we determines there wasn’t anything wrong with the products already used in our closet (by Closetmaid), we decided to just buy more of what we already had going on. Home Depot was the retailer of choice, as they carried the exact stuff we needed to re-do our closet.
Closetmaid.com has a fantastic closet designer tool where you plug in your dimensions, play around with what items and shelving you’d like where, and it spits out a 7 page guide complete with a 3-d image, measurements for cutting, and a complete list of things you need to buy. How easy!
So there you have it, our lovely weekend-long closet make-over!!
Additional wire shelves – $44.24
Wood shelves – $305.87
Anchors, Shoe Brackets, End caps and other accessories – $78.13
Grand Total Closet Makeover = $428.24 (minus gift cards from Christmas and $100 gift card thanks to credit card rewards!) = $308.48
While we were at Home Depot the first time, we bought all of our seeds for our garden this year, so stay tuned for planning and building our new garden!
