I hope all of you had just as wonderful a Valentine’s weekend as I did!
Just because it was Valentine’s weekend didn’t really make it much different than any other weekend in terms of housework, but there were a few perks thrown in that made it extra special 🙂
Since Robert has a laundry list of things he ‘wants/needs’ for himself or the house that are all, lets just say, not cheap, I decided the easiest way to shop for Robert was to take him with me 🙂 We had been looking at surround sound in-ceiling speakers and a new receiver to work with the speakers. We went to Costco last Sunday, along with everyone else in Richmond apparently, and found an Onkyo receiver that had everything Robert needed and more. I told him that even though I was buying it that day and he knew what it was, he still had to wait until the weekend to play with it (I can be so mean 🙂 ).
Robert ordered my gift sometime in the beginning of February, and I came home to find a large box on the front stoop about 2 weeks ago. In the spirit of being ‘mean,’ Robert informed me that in that large box was my Valentine’s gift and I couldn’t open mine until this past weekend. Touche, Robert, touche…
So since we had been so good and waited so long with temptation right under our noses, we decided that we’d go ahead with our little gift exchange on Saturday. Robert got to tear into his receiver and I got to open my large box!
IT’S A HAMMOCK! At the old house, I always whined about wanting a hammock – and now we have one!! I’m so excited for it to get warm out so we can hang this comfy-guy up and relax (even though we all know I’ll be the one laying and relaxing and Robert will sit for about 5 minutes before he gets bored -sigh-)
Well of course we couldn’t get the new receiver without getting surround sound speakers to use with it! Robert found the speakers he wanted on Friday and began the installation Friday afternoon. Saturday morning – he completed it!
Once again with the roses 🙂 I love them! Just a cute picture to show off our green thumbs – a few weeks ago we planted our herb garden from seeds – and now we have baby herbs!! Now we just need to keep the cats out of them…
Saturday night came a glorious surprise – Robert found a recipe for Chicken Tikka Masala for me, since I LOVE Indian food (but he really doesn’t, so it’s rare that we’ll go to an indian restaurant), and we cooked this up on Saturday – we’ll make a few tweaks next time (it should be more red than this – we used diced tomatoes instead of crushed, totally makes a difference) but it was delicious regardless! He also got Garlic Naan mix, which was my little experiment, and it turned out AWESOME! To top it off, he got mango chutney (on the yummiest!) and we had a very very yummy dinner!
Sunday night brought it’s own surprises, as Robert made reservations at the local (deilcious) steakhouse, Hondos. The dinner was amazing (I got the Steak Hondo – 6oz Filet Mignon on a grilled marinated portabello mushroom topped with lump crabmeat and served with Hollandaise sauce, and Robert got the Valentine’s Surf & Turf – 6 oz Filet Mignon with a 4 oz Crabcake.) Both dishes were amazing, and we shared a bottle of ’05 Simi Cabernet Sauvignon – YUM!!
So our Valentine’s weekend, although still incorporating housework and cleaning with laundry thrown in the mix, was amazing and I wouldn’t have chosen to spend it any other way than with my fabulous Husband-to-be!
